The 15th edition of Auto Expo started today (5 February 2020) at India Expo Mart in Greater Noida, Gautam Buddha Nagar, Uttar Pradesh. Just the first evidences that this year we’ll be seeing a plethora amount of new vehicle launches. Maruti Suzuki has already unveiled the concept of Futuro-e electric vehicle and also announced the plan to launch 1 million green vehicles in India, which includes Electric, Smart Hybrid, CNG, and Strong Hybrid. Furthermore, Renault India has also unveiled the Triber AMT at Auto Expo and K-ZE Electric Hatchback at the motor show. Over the next few days, few new companies like Changan and Great Wall Motors will showcase their first products and make their entry in Indian turf soon.
Here are all the updates from the Day 1 at Auto Expo:
WCOTY (World Car of the Year): The finalists of WCOTY were for all categories that were revealed today. WCOTY has come to India for the first time in history.
The Skoda Superb Facelift will go on sale in India in April 2020. Zac Hollis, Brand Director- Skoda Auto India with company’s senior management was at the Vision IN Auto Expo 2020 Showcase. The Skoda Rapid will get a new BS6 1.0-liter tsi motor that puts out 108 bhp. The Skoda Karoq will be launched in India in April and will get a 1.5-liter tsi engine mated to a seven-speed DSG gearbox. There will be a panoramic sunroof on offer as well. Skoda has launched the Octavia RS 245 in India at Rs. 36 lakh (ex-showroom) and its production will be limited to 200 units. Deliveries of the Octavia RS 245 will start in April and the company will start accepting bookings on March 1. Moreover, Skoda plans to launch 5 more new and upgraded products in India.
Great Wall Motor will launch the Haval SUV in India in 2021. Hardeep Singh Brar, Director- Marketing & Sales, Great Wall Motor India takes the stage and reveals the India strategy.
Suzuki Katana Unveil:
The new Suzuki Katana is inspired by the age-old iconic Katana motorcycle which was a very popular touring motorcycle in the 1980s and 1990s. Suzuki showcases its entire range of BS6 line-up.
The Kia Sonet gets upmarket features like IMT automatic, remote start and ventilated seats among others. India will be the first market to get the Kia Sonet. All Kia models will now feature this conjoined signature LED tail lamps. The Kia Sonet will go up against the Maruti Suzuki Vitara Brezza, Mahindra XUV300, and Tata Nexon among others.
Hyundai TUSCON Unveil:
And we finally get to see the new Hyundai Tuscon in flesh. Six airbags, Hill Start Assist, front and rear parking sensors, and Downhill Brake Control among other safety features on the new Hyundai Tuscon. The Hyundai Tuscon will be offered with a host of maintenance package options. It will also feature Hyundai’s blue connected car tech and smartphone connectivity options. The Tuscon will get features like a panoramic sunroof, powered seats, and electric parking brake among others. The new Tuscon will get 2.0-litre, BS6 compliant petrol, and diesel engines. The new Hyundai Tuscon gets the family face sporting Cascade grill along with elements like Penta project headlamps and LED taillights at the rear.
