Government Agency Seal

This is the first vaccine in the world that has come with a seal of a government agency. The vaccine approved by the UK is made by American company Pfizer and German company BioNotech. This vaccine is up to 95 percent effective against the coronavirus.

In the next few days in Britain, vaccination will be started. The UK’s Medicines and Healthcare Products Regulatory Agency, which licenses the vaccine, has declared it safe.

Britain has ordered 40 million doses of the vaccine. These are enough to immunize 2 crore people. Everyone will be given two doses of the vaccine. The second dose will be given 21 days after taking the first dose. The UK Health Minister has expressed the hope that by next summer the situation in Britain will be much better.

What are the challenges?

The vaccine developed by Pfizer-BioNotech has to be kept at -70 ° C and this temperature has to be maintained till the vaccine is brought and vaccinated. However, a country like Britain has not much difficulty because of its cold environment. In such a situation, the news of vaccine arrival is good for Britain and many countries of the world.

What do India’s Experts say?

According to experts, such a vaccine is not effective in the circumstances of India as there are varying temperatures from Kashmir to Kanyakumari. Also, in many remote areas, there is no electricity. In such a situation, it is almost impossible to maintain a cold chain of minus 70 degrees Celsius temperature. It is very expensive to preserve vaccines at such a low temperature.

Despite all this, it is good news for India that at least a vaccine has finally arrived in battle with the coronavirus. India too is not far behind in the race to get the vaccine. Some vaccines in the country are in the final stages of the trial. The country is expected to get its own vaccine by February. The only reason for the delay is that these vaccines should be effective and safe too.
