After India got independence on 15 August 1949, the Indian government realizes the need of supporting armed forces. They formed a committee and decided that the national Flag Day would be observed every year on 7 December. The idea behind observing Indian Armed Forces Flag Day is to distribute small flags to civilians and collect donations for soldiers in return. This day is regarded as the responsibility of every common people of India to look after the families of the armed forces personnel who have fought the battles to protect the country.

On this day, each and every citizen of India has the responsibility to take care of the martyrs’ family and living heroes (who were injured while performing their duties).
