Recall that Sherlyn Chopra had filed a petition for anticipatory bail in the Bombay High Court amid allegations of obscenity against her for publishing ‘adult content‘ on free pornographic websites, which will be heard today. In her petition, Sherlyn Chopra claimed that the content was for a subscription-based international portal and that she was in fact a victim of piracy.

Remember that Sherlyn was accused of publishing pornographic content on free porn websites last year. In this entire case, Sherlyn was booked under sections 67 and 67A of the IT Act 2000. At that time, he had approached the Mumbai sessions court to avoid arrest but his bail plea was rejected there. Sherlyn Chopra’s anticipatory bail was dismissed by the sessions court, saying that a self-sufficient woman could not be expected to create adult content for international clients of her select groups and publish the content on the pre-porn website , So that it can be easily and freely available for viewing.

In this entire case, Sherlyn said that she is the director of not one, but two companies. In addition, she also produces pornographic content for adult websites. But the website mentioned in the FIR contains pirated content which is copyright infringement, as they only give content to the original platform. Sherlyn said she has faced persistent harassment, downloading videos from subscription-based websites, removing watermarks and making them available on other sites for free. The application states that the complainant has not understood who the real culprit is.

Significantly, Madhukar Kenny, a retired customs and central excise officer, had complained to the cyber police on October 31, 2020 against a pen drive and several adult content platforms. He had alleged that when Chopra’s name was recorded in a search engine, his pornographic videos appeared on the screen.
