KXIP Mistress Preity Zinta Gets Annoyed over Bad Umpiring, Claims Responsible for Punjab’s Loss

There was a dispute between umpiring in the match between Delhi Capitals and Kings XI Punjab played on Sunday in IPL Season 13 and Punjab team’s mistress Preity Zinta got angry on this.

Umpiring has been a major issue in the Indian Premier League (IPL). Many umpires’ decisions have been resented and at times their decisions have also led to a win-win difference. The same happened in the second match of the 13th season of IPL on Sunday.

Mayank Agarwal and Chris Jordan were batting during the 19th over of Punjab’s innings chasing a target of 158 runs. Kings XI Punjab needed 21 runs off 10 balls to win against Delhi Capitals. Mayank Agarwal hit the second ball of Kagiso Rabada’s over. After this, the next ball which was the yorker was played on the vacant mid-on area. Chris Jordan was supposed to arrive at Danger &. He ran well and also completed it.

Umpire Nitin Mohan, standing at square leg, gave it a ‘short run’ i.e. an incomplete run car. The umpire said that Jordan did not cross the bat crease at the wicketkeeper’s end while taking the run and ran for the second run before that. However, the umpire’s decision was wrong. It was clearly visible in the TV replay that Jordan’s bat crossed the crease and it was a complete run.

However, the match was a tie after 20 overs. Punjab needed one run to win on the last ball but Rabada took a catch at square foot off Marcus Stoinis. On this, Preity took out the anger by tweeting.

Priti Zinta wrote, “I travelled enthusiastically during a pandemic, did 6 days of Quarantine & 5covid tests with a smile but that one Short Run hit me hard. What’s the point of technology if it cannot be used? It’s time @BCCI introduces new rules. This cannot happen every year.”

Preity Zinta wrote in another tweet, “I’ve always believed in being graceful in a win or loss & in the spirit of the game but it’s also important to ask for policy changes that improve the game in the future for everyone. The past has happened and it’s imp to move on. So Looking ahead & being positive as always”

After this a lot of discussions started on social media. Here are some reactions:
