Kolkata knight Riders’ skipper Dinesh Karthik stepped down from the captaincy ahead of the match against Mumbai Indians. His teammate Eoin Morgan is to replace him. Karthik told management that he wants to focus on batting, overall performance, and keep the KKR on a winning string. Team CEO Venky Mysore said in his statement, “We are fortunate to have leaders such as DK, who has always put the team first. It takes us a lot of courage for someone like him to take decisions such as this.”
Mysore further added, “Karthik and Eoin collaborated together brilliantly on the ongoing tournament and although Eoin take over as captain, this is effectively a role swap and we expect that this transition will work in a seamless manner,”
Karthik stepped down from captaincy due to the intense pressure of his team spasmodic performance. KKR has played 7 matches so far wherein they booked victory in four and lost in three. Today, they are about to face Mumbai Indians. Karthik has made just 108 runs in seven matches so far with an average of 15.42. His highest score is 58 runs against KXIP.
