ICC Test Rankings: New Zealand Become No.1 Test Team For the First Time in the History

The New Zealand cricket team achieved a milestone by securing the no. 1 position in the test cricket history for the first time. With a win over Pakistan, New Zealand becomes the king of the test team now. It surpasses Australia which suffered a defeat by India recently. New Zealand rose to 117 points with a 101-run win against Pakistan on Wednesday and snatched the number one position from Australia.

The New Zealand cricket team ended the year with a blast. After a clean sweep of the West Indies, the New Zealand team, which came close to the first position in the ICC rankings, has captured the top before the end of the year. Australia lost its no.-1 position due to a loss against India in Melbourne; meanwhile, Pakistan’s defeat against New Zealand on Wednesday gave an advantage to New Zealand in becoming a new king of the ICC Test rankings.

New Zealand and Australia were jointly at number one position with equal points before landing in the first Test against Pakistan. With this, Australia has slipped to second place with 116 points while the Indian team is at number three with 115 points. England is at fourth place with 106 points while Sri Lanka’s team is at number five with 91 points.
