Rajasthan Royals Beat Chennai in the fourth match of IPL 2020, and Dhoni who is known for the best finisher fell short off balls to make 16 runs more. He knocked not out 29 off 17 including a hat-trick of sixes off Tom Curran in the final over, yet he didn’t succeed to get the CSK won.

Chasing a mammoth of 217 runs and losing three wickets at just 77 runs in the ninth over, it is perplexing to see why MS Dhoni didn’t come for bat, instead, he promoted Ruturaj Gaikwad and Kedar Jadhav to bat ahead of him.

Explaining to this Dhoni said, “I wanted to give opportunities to others as I haven’t batted for a long time. Sam Curran who sent at no. 4 against Mumbai Indians had to play an important role. Faf du Plessis also knocked a magnificent inning 72 off 37 balls, but it wasn’t enough to get CSK won the match.”

He further said, “I haven’t batted for a long time. 14 days of quarantine didn’t help me. I wanted to try different things, but it is well understood that if it doesn’t work, you can always believe in your strength. We played well, but fell short to win the match.”

“To chase 217, we needed a good start that we did. Steve and Samson batted very well, but it was their bowlers who changed the game. They did well to bowl away from the batsman”, Dhoni said. He further added, “Our spinners made errors to bowl too full. If we stop them under 200, we would have a chance to win the match.”
