Skipper KL Rahul and Chris Gayle’s classic inning of 61 not out and 53 respectively led KXIP to won the match by 8 wickets. Chasing 172 runs in a must-win game, the opening pair KL Rahul and Mayank Agarwal (45 off 25) did well, Chris Gayle joined his captain in the middle order and took the team near to victory with a classic knock of 53 off 45, though he got run out just before the finishing line when KXIP required just 8 runs.
KXIP needed 7 off 12 balls while they have 9 wickets in their hand. The game seemed to be heading towards intricacy when KL Rahul and Nicholas struggled to hit the remaining, though Nicholas managed to hit a six at the last ball when one run was required at one ball.
