Much awaited dark mode feature for Whatsapp has been launched recently for Android 10 and iOS users. This update is rolling out in a phased manner which means that those users who are not getting this update now will get it soon. But to it is important to acknowledge that not every phone is eligible to get this update.
How to enable dark mode in Android
The dark mode will be available to all the iOS 13 version users and Android 10 users. To enable the dark mode in your mobile phones, first, go to the Google Play Store and update your Whatapp messaging app. If the update is not available yet, then wait. Ensure that your phone is connected to the internet connection. Next, go to the phone settings and move ahead to Display & Brightness, wherein you’ll find the option for dark mode. Tap on it and reopen your Whatsapp messenger app. Whatsapp will automatically switch to the dark mode.
How to enable dark mode in iOS
For iPhone users, first, go to App Store and update your Whatsapp messenger app. After installing the updated version of Whatsapp, move to the Phone settings and scroll down to Display and Brightness. Under Display and Brightness, you’ll find the option for dark mode, enable that. Whatsapp will automatically switch to the dark mode.
The usefulness of Dark Mode
This mode enhances the readability and also marks out the important content by using different colors and highlighting the content which is to be marked. It is said that the messaging app will use the colors close to the colors of the system’s default settings. This feature will reportedly minimize the stress on the eyes. An additional advantage that this feature comes with is the power saving capability. It has also been reported that the pure black color highly contrasts with white that potentially stresses eyes, so, instead of pure black and white, the dark gray and off-white combination is the use which reduces eye fatigue.
