You might have noticed if you are a frequent user of Facebook Messenger, telegram, and Instagram. But you find this feature absent in your WhatsApp, don’t you. So, if you are expecting this on your WhatsApp application, your awaiting is going to end soon. The Facebook owned company “WhatsApp” is going to launch dark mode feature for Android 10, iOS 13 users. However, it is not officially confirmed that when this feature will be available on the normal android version. But as of now, it is available for android users who have latest Q beta version. Once this feature is updated on normal version, its icon will appear in blue and grey color that means there will be two different options, one is dark gray/blue back ground and other is black.
The main purpose to update this feature is to extend the phone battery life. It significantly saves power mainly with OLED or AMOLED screen. It enables dark text visibility on a white background and light text on dark back ground that is the best for readability. On the black screen, it reduces screen glare thereby minimizes flickering and blue light. Consequently, it reduces eye strain in low light conditions.

These may essentially appear with WhatsApp logo in the background when app is downloaded and installed for the first time. However, these features are already accessible on iPhones and Android beta app.

One can enable this option by going into settings section followed by Account – Privacy – Groups and choosing the option they want.
What is Dark Mode?
Dark Mode is a supplementary feature for displaying the texts or images mostly on the dark surface. It reduces the screen contrast and maintains the minimum color contrast ratios required for easy reading. It increases visual ergonomics by adjusting screen light in accordance with current lighting conditions thereby providing comfort in reading in the night or dark environments. It is quite helpful to save battery, thereby making device enable to be used for longer periods. It can be turned off or on using toggle icon on the phone screen. Alternatively, user can find on/off option in the menu or in the app’s setting.
