Confrontation in Congress, Kapil Sibal Clashes with Ashok Gehlot over Party’s Poor Performance in Bihar Election

There is a confrontation in the Congress party over the weak performance in the recently held elections in Bihar. Senior party leader Kapil Sibal has openly criticized the party leadership, after which Rajasthan Chief Minister Ashok Gehlot objected to him.

In an interview with Indian Express, Kapil Sibal said, that ‘the party leadership has not said anything yet on Bihar elections, perhaps they feel that everything is going well’. He further added that the party must accept that it is becoming weaker and it needs “experienced minds, experienced hands and people who understand political realities” to correct it again.

After his interview, Ashok Gehlot took to Twitter to object to Sibal. In one of his tweets, he said, “There was no need for Mr. Kapil Sibal to mention our internal issue in the Media, this has hurt the sentiments of party workers across the country.”

Following which He tweeted:

Stating that, the Congress formed an alliance with the Rashtriya Janata Dal in the Bihar election. The party contested 70 of the 243 seats in the state and won 19 seats. While its alliance RJD succeeded to win 75 seats and emerged as the single largest party in Bihar. BJP emerged as the second-largest party in Bihar with 74 seats.
