Counting of elections for 81 municipal bodies, 31 district panchayats and 231 taluka panchayats in Gujarat continues. The Bharatiya Janata Party remains ahead in the initial trends. Elections were held on Sunday with 58.82 percent polling in municipalities, 65.80 percent polling in district panchayats and 66.60 percent polling in taluka panchayats.
The state Election Commission released the final voting data on Monday. Voting was again held on Monday at a polling station in Godia in Jhalod taluka of Dahod district due to the breaking of EVMs by three people during the election on Sunday. Officials said that about 50 per cent of the votes were cast during the renomination. Let me tell you, assembly elections are going to be held in Gujarat only next year.
After the cities of Gujarat, now the Congress is suffering a big loss in the villages. In Sabarkantha, the son of the Congress MLA has lost the election. Yash Kotwal, son of MLA Ashwin Kotwal, has been defeated in the tehsil panchayat elections. BJP is leading in 20 of the 31 district panchayats in the state.
