Gurunanak Jayanti 2020: When Guru Nanak’s Teachings Changed The Ideology Of a Thief

Every year on the full moon date of Kartik month, Guru Nanak Jayanti is celebrated. This year, Guru Nanak Jayanti will be celebrated on 30 November. This festival is very important for Sikhs. Guru Nanak Dev Ji is the founder of Sikhism and the first Guru of Sikhs. Guru Nanak Dev used to be engaged in satsang and contemplation since childhood. By the age of 30, his knowledge had matured. Guru Nanak Dev Ji used to say, “Sab tera hai kya mera hai“, that is, everything belongs to that God. He devoted his entire life for the interest of the people. The lessons they teach are inspiring people even today. You know a similar story in which the learning of Guru Nanak changed the ideology of a thief.

Once a person came to Nanak Dev ji and said, ‘Baba, I commit theft and other crimes. “Tell me a way to improve my life”. Then Guru Nanak Dev said to him, “You should stop stealing.” Have a fast to speak the truth You will be benefited. The person returned after paying obeisance to them. A few days later the man came again to Nanak Dev ji and said ‘Baba is not missing the habit of stealing and lying even after trying a lot. What I do.

Guru Nanak told him that “Brother“, you should describe your day and night in front of four people. After hearing Nanak ji, the thief left from there. He committed a robbery the next day, but he could not tell the people, because he feared that people would hate him. He vowed not to steal at that moment. A few days later the thief went back to Nanak Dev ji and said, ‘Baba, your suggested method has set me free. I no longer commit theft or other wrongdoing. I earn a living by working hard.

In this way, learning of Nanak ji changed the ideology of that thief’s life and his life got a new direction.
