The counting of the by-elections in the 28 assembly seats of Madhya Pradesh is going on and the result will be announced by the end of the day. The counting of votes started at 8 am. The results will decide whether the government of Shivraj Singh Chauhan will be able to sustain his government in Madhya Pradesh or the government of Kamal Nath will regain the regime once again.
The opposition Congress is ahead on nine seats out of the 27 constituencies as per current trends. The Bahujan Samaj Party (BSP) is leading in the Morena seat, as per the Election Commission data. Ministers Aidal Singh Kansana, Girraj Dandotia, and OPS Bhadoria are struggling in Sumaoli, Dimani, and Mehgaon seats respectively, where their Congress rivals have taken a lead.
In the India Today-Exi My India exit poll, BJP is projected to get 16 to 18 seats, while the Congress is expected to get 10 to 12 seats. Voting was held on 3 November in Madhya Pradesh.
