Rakesh Tikait’s emotional war changed the whole game. Now where farmers’ protest seemed to be weakening, it once again fueled Rakesh Tikait’s tearful speech in front of the media. Earlier, after the high voltage drama, the Ghaziabad administration gave an ultimatum to the peasant leaders sitting in Ghazipur to end the strike till midnight. The protesting farmers were also covering their bags, but the tears of Rakesh Tikait of Bhartiya Kisan Union changed the atmosphere.
The Ghazipur border was turned into a cantonment on Thursday. A large number of police forces and Rapid Action Force personnel were deployed there. Section 144 was imposed. There was speculation that Rakesh Tikait was going to surrender or he could be arrested. His brother Naresh Tikait announced that the protest will now be ended. However, Rakesh Tikait’s tearful speech changed the whole atmosphere. After this, the Central and UP governments came on the back-foot.
