On public demand, the Information and Broadcasting Ministry has decided to re-run the mythological program ‘Ramayan’ on the TV channel ‘Doordarshan’. Though the public demanded for both Ramayan and Mahabharat but for now Ramayan has been scheduled to be aired and discussion over Mahabharat is still pending. Well, its good news for Indians as Ramayan will be aired again from 28 March 2020 (Saturday) two possessing 1-hour episodes, one at 9 am to 10 am and second at 9 pm to 10 pm.
Amid lockdown, the authorities took this decision for the sake of the public, to make their isolation time enjoyable. As a response to thousands of requests for re-telecast of Ramayan, the union minister Prakash Javadekar tweeted on Friday morning. He wrote “Happy to announce that on public demand, we are starting re-telecast of ‘Ramayan’ from tomorrow, Saturday 28 March on DD National, One episode in morning 9 to 10 am, and another in evening 9 to 10 pm.
Earlier, on Wednesday, the CEO Prasar Bharti, Shashi Shekhar has tweeted that we are having discussions and working to deal with the right holders of the legendary TV serials Ramayan and Mahabharat. I Will update shortly. Stay tuned.
Authorities believe that these immensely popular TV shows will help India to withstand the national lockdown. Originally, the TV series was first launched on 25 January 1987 and ran till 31 July 1988. Directed by legendary Ramanand Sagar ‘Ramayan’ features Arun Govil as Ram, Deepika Chikhalia as Sita, Arvind Trivedi as Raavan, and Dara Singh as Hanuman.
